Andrew Biss Wins WonderLand One-Act Festival

The first annual WonderLand One-Act Festival kicked off May 24 and ran through June 8 at the Studio Theatre on Theatre Row.  Saturday night, June 9, their Wonders awards ceremony was held at Chi Lounge.  Out of the 60 plays which were selected for inclusion in the Festival, playwright Andrew Biss received the top honor of Best Play for his one-act Indigenous Peoples.  Biss was also presented with a $1,000 grand prize.  Among the other awards presented at the ceremony were:

Best Actor
Danny Mittermeyer (M/21 Bellevue)

Best Actress
Nicole Heriot (Indigenous Peoples)

Best Director
Kimberlea Kressal (Sandwich)

Best Playwright
Terence Hughes (Farewell Evenbrook)

Best Ensemble Cast
Asylum

A panel of industry professionals participated in determining the winners of the WonderLand One-Act Festival awards including: Peter Miller (PMA Literary and Film Management), Valerie Adami (Weist-Barron), Angela Mickey (Liz Lewis Casting), Mickey Pantano (Mickey Pantano Photography), Michael Grenham and Tom Oppenheim (Stella Adler Studio of Acting), Rachel Langley (Film Star and Company), and Larry Silverberg (ActorsCraft.com).
