Ali Stroker to Star in Reading for New Musical Comedy (UN)LUCKY IN LOVE

(Un)Lucky In Love, a heroic romantic musical comedy by award-winning writers Crystal Skillman & Bobby Cronin, will receive a developmental reading this week with a starry cast led by Ali Stroker (Spring Awakening, "Glee") in a role that would be a first in Broadway musical theatre history -- a lead character who is disabled played by a disabled actor.

(Un)Lucky In Love, a contemporary riff on Cyrano (with a female twist) set in the fast pace of New York City's digital age, follows Abby Burgess (Ali Stroker), a modern day poet who believes that nobody is lucky in love -- how could they be when their faces are stuck in iPhone apps or hidden behind computer screens?!...Whether she's being discriminated against because of her wheelchair or talked down to by douchy customers while serving drinks at The Concrete Jungle piano bar, Abby will stop at nothing to get her work published! By creating her best fictional self via a dating profile she writes for her stubborn older roommate Claire, Abby's dream is finally coming true! But when a guy gets in the way of Abby's plan, she must make the ultimate choice -- love or art. Can she have both, or neither?

(Un)Lucky In Love had a developmental lab this past summer at West Texas A&M and was listed as one of the TOP TEN ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS OF THE YEAR.
