Late Night Jazz: Colectiva at Royal Albert Hall

Jazz tropicaliente pioneers COLECTIVA, in association with GALSI, perform live in the Elgar Room, followed by a post-show DJ set by GUINNY.

COLECTIVA explore the spaces between Afro-Latin music and Jazz while reflecting on themes of sisterhood and female empowerment. Crafting thoughtful arrangements rooted in the sonorities of Africa, Latin America and the diaspora, they have birthed a sound affectionately dubbed jazz tropicaliente (hot-tropical-jazz), rich in bold horn lines, jazz harmony and Afro-Latin groove.

On September 29 2022, COLECTIVA released their second single with UK Jazz pioneers Jazz Re:Freshed. How Do You Like Your Ladies? is a song that embodies female rage. Channelling their frustration at patriarchy and its discontents, COLECTIVA deliver a 3-minute party-starter, rich in Afro-Latin rhythm, fiery horn motifs and Salsa influences.
