Chris Sullivan is making a return to London's fringe theatre for the first time in 40 years. He is due to star in his own play, The 2 Sides of Eddie Ramone, at The Jermyn Street Theatre from July 25th for one week only.
He last starred at London's fringe in 1976 at The Soho Poly Theatre in the Glenn Chandler play A Treat.
After that he worked extensively on British television, including many episodes of Crossroads, in 1971, before disappearing to Los Angeles for twenty years from whence he has relatively recently returned.
In Hollywood he worked in many Independent Films and big budget features such as Kangaroo Jack and Timeline; he won a Dramalogue Award for his American theatrical debut and performed a one man Irish show, A Bit of Irish, in theatres, colleges and Irish fairs, off and on, for ten years.
Thirty years after co-starring in the feature film Lifeforce, Chris still receives fan mail and enquiries from the cult film's many fans but he has yet to attend any of the conventions.
His new play, The 2 Sides of Eddie Ramone is about comedian Eddie Ramone, a 50 something 60 something comedian who has been doing the cruises for many years ever since leaving a top rated TV game show after a dubious scandal and tragedy.
During his act Eddie has an out of body experience and lets his act continue on 'auto pilot' till something happens which drives him back to the inner turmoil which has haunted him for years, the story of how his daughter went missing in Los Angeles all those years ago . . . .
Co-starring with Chris, in this world premier, is Shian Denovan a very talented Scottish actress, who has recently returned from Australia; she won Best Female Performance in A Night of Horror International Film Festival for her role in Cat Sick Blues and at the Nice International Film Festival she has recently won best actress for her role in the feature Birthday. She was also nominated for Best Actress by The Stage for her role in Snap Catch Slam where she performed a similar one woman style story. It played at The Pleasance during the Edinburgh Fringe.
Other theatre work includes playing Helen in Dennis Kelly's Orphans for a well established Australian theatre company and a year working with repertoire company Chamber Shakespeare playing Lady Macbeth, Desdemona and Ophelia. As well as numerous London fringe shows performing in venues such as, Theatre 503, Greenwich Playhouse and Lost Theatre, to name just a few.
