Gülseven Medar, a talented vocalist, specializes in Kurdish and Anatolian folk music, honoring their traditional roots while blending elements of jazz fusion and global music. Influenced by Kurdish and Alevi cultures, she also interprets Turkish and Armenian songs, collaborating with Turkish music masters to record these repertoires.
Her diverse sound, enriched by global influences, has made her a regular performer at international festivals and folk operas. In 2023, she founded the Gülseven Medar Quartet, combining folk, Alevi faith music, and jazz fusion, featuring vocals, double bass, harp, and tenbur.
Joining her on stage will be Imogen Emmett on harp, Orhan Bilge on balama, and Ardashes Agoshian, a distinguished double bassist, composer, music director, and conductor based in Amsterdam. With a distinguished international career, including performances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Ardashes has garnered acclaim for his extensive musical repertoire showcased on a global scale.
Vaak Records and Art Stage are Iranian promoters based in London, dedicated to showcasing music from Persian-language communities worldwide. They aim to create new international cultural experiences by fostering collaboration between Iranian and international musicians, particularly those from the SWANA region.
