New musical REDCLIFFE will receive its premiere production at Southwark Playhouse Borough from May 22 through July 4, 2026. Check out photos from inside rehearsal!
The production features a book, music, and lyrics by Jordan Luke Gage, who will also star as William after previously appearing in sold-out workshop performances at The Other Palace in 2024.
Joining Gage in the cast will be Rebecca Lock as Mother, Daniel Krikler as Richard, Jess Douglas Welsh as Abigail, Adrian Hansel as Baber, Melissa Jacques as Georgie/Judge, Jade Johnson as Landlady, Phoebe Kyriakopoulos as Esther, Joseph Peacock as Arthur, and Steven Serlin as Officer/Felix.
Set in 18th century England, REDCLIFFE is based on the story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Bristol and follows two men whose relationship unfolds during a period of persecution. The musical centers on William, whose life changes after meeting Richard, a sailor visiting the town.
The production will be directed by Paul Foster with choreography by Emma Woods. The creative team also includes set designer Andrew Exeter, Costume Designer Martin Hanly, lighting designer Matt Hockley, sound designer Alistair Penman, musical supervisor Katy Richardson, associate musical director and orchestrator Ben Tomalin, and additional orchestrator Ben Ferguson. Casting is by Will Burton.
