Middlebury Acting Company presents Chekhov’s classic The Cherry Orchard at Town Hall Theater, exploring the complexities of the Gayev family as they face the impending loss of their estate and beautiful cherry orchard. The characters navigate humor and tragedy, grappling with themes of love, connection, and the decay of aristocracy. Directed by MACo Artistic Director Melissa Lourie, this adaptation features original music by Stefán Örn Arnarson and design contributions from Ellie Friml, Jamien Forrest, and Marykay Dempewolff. The performance highlights the poignant and whimsical nature of Chekhov's writing through a talented cast of Vermont actors.
