The Descent of Orpheus at Koerner Hall, TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning

Opera Atelier presents Canada's first fully-staged production of Charpentier's The Descent of Orpheus, the first known French operatic treatment of the Orpheus myth as told by Ovid. Fully staged and choreographed by Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg, the production stars Daniel McGrew as Orpheus, Mireille Asselin as Eurydice, David Witczak as Pluto, Olivier Bergeron as Apollo, and Mireille Lebel as Persephone. The evening opens with a prologue performed by Measha Brueggergosman-Lee, featuring Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra conducted by Christopher Bagan and the Artists of Atelier Ballet.
