Macbeth and Banquo are returning from war when they run into three 'weird sisters'. Hearing their prophecies, Banquo learns that his descendants will be kings, and Macbeth will be the “Thane of Cawdor,” and later king.Sure enough, when they return home, Macbeth is awarded with the title, "Thane of Cawdor." Thirsty for power, Macbeth and his wife plot to kill the present king for Macbeth to wear the prestigious title. Reality and fantasy start to blur together, until Macbeth is finally undone by the prophecies that started it all.
