Spin Cycle: The Lesbian Launderette Play at Lower Marsh Arts Club

Following a sell-out, multi-award winning run at Edinburgh Fringe as the only play by and about lesbians in any of the four main venues, ‘Spin Cycle’ returns to London. Packed with heart, wit and emotional depth, this play presents a liminal world where past and present collide in the space of a single wash cycle, allowing forgotten memories to be rinsed clean.

Eyes lock. Hearts thump. But something is off. This snappy two hander delves into sapphic yearning in a witty, evocative and plot-twisting story. Under the neon lights of a launderette, two ex-lovers meet again for the first time. Against the thrum of whirring washing machines they must decide whether it’s better to have loved and lost, or never loved at all?

Off West End’s 2026 OffFest award-winner, Spin Cycle champions Irish heritage and queer and gender non-conforming characters. Produced by London-based Berserk Theatre, the company is founded by queer American-Irish artist Zofia Zerphy (How to Urn a Living, Hen and Chickens Theatre; Girl Kisser, Lion and Unicorn Theatre) and Rhiannon Bell (Hope Street, BBC One; Joe Carstairs, Omnibus Theatre). Directed by Bethan Rose (Swash and Buckle, SIDE/STEP Festival; Waterfowl Collective), Spin Cycle tosses queerness, class, Irish identity, and memory into the same wash cycle to rinse and repeat until all that is dirty becomes clean.
