A searing and funny play by Ahmad Meree that puts citizenship itself in the hot seat, interrogating belonging, identity, and the exhausting performance of assimilation. Utilizing a camera, mixed media, and sharp wit, the play traces the journey from leaving home to becoming a refugee, and then a citizen. Written and performed by Ahmad Meree, with Shannon Pitre, the piece draws from Meree's own experiences coming to Canada as a refugee from Aleppo, Syria, in 2016. Directed by Radwan Taleb, this is a co-production between Theatre Passe Muraille and 7Spices Theatre.
