THE FIANCÉE Performed by: Susan Coyne, Rena Polley, Brenda Robins, David Storch March 1 – 5, 2023 65 min, no intermission Tickets: $25 MASKS MANDATORY HEPA FILTERED THEATRE No other writer has evoked boredom, dreariness and ennui with such richly entertaining specificity as Anton Chekhov. The Fiancée, by Anton Chekhov is presented by The Chekhov Collective as part of their Page to Stage: Theatrical Readings of Literary Works. In The Fiancée, Nadya is a young woman who is engaged to be married, something she dreamed of for years. Her wedding is only a few weeks away but when Sasha, a distant relative comes to visit, her life begins to unravel. The Fiancée, (also known as The Betrothed) was Chekhov’s last completed short story before he died from tuberculosis at the age of 44. The Fiancée is considered one of Chekhov’s most optimistic short stories.
