Scottish Dance Theatre returns to Festival Theatre under the charge of new Artistic Director Fleur Darkin, with two new and exhilarating works.
Second Coming by Montreal based Victor Quijada involves a movement influenced by the street-dance culture where he grew up in Los Angeles. Combining break dancing with more contemporary dance forms, and with a potent soundtrack by Jasper Gahunia (aka DJ Lil Jaz), this funny and surprising work is tinted with the notions of regret, and inaction.
Winter, Again, by Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren, will take you on a journey through the cycle of the darkest, coldest season, with underlying questions and mysterious happenings using songs from Schubert’s Eine Winterreise. Strømgren, renowned globally as a radical choreographer, director and writer, draws on his own distinct dance language along with the theatrical associations for which his work has become recognised – supporting SDT’s continuing exploration of dance/theatre.
