Angel Orensanz Foundation History

The Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts was established in 1992 as an artistic and cultural resource open to artists, writers, thinkers, and leaders from all over the world, and to the community around us. Over the years they have welcomed and been inspired by Philip Glass and Spike Lee; Arthur Miller, Alexander McQueen, Salman Rushdie, Maya Angelou and Alexander Borovsky; Elie Wiesel and Chuck Close.

Tickets Are on Sale Now for Trap Door Theatre's DECOMPOSED THEATRE

This winter, Trap Door Theatre will collaborate with eight directors to create a series of episodes adapted from Matei Visniec's Decomposed Theatre Or The Human Trashcan. From Dec. 3, 2020, to Feb.4, 2021, a unique adaptation from Visniec's 'dialogic spectacle of monologues' will be performed live on Zoom between the resident Chicago ensemble and an international group of guest performers and directors.

Broadway Dreams welcomed more than 70 of their top students from around the world to come together at NYC's The Angel Orensanz Foundation to perform for the industry's top professionals. The evening featured performances and work set by Broadway Dreams' faculty members including, Founder and President Annette Tanner, Matthew Scott, Spencer Liff, Nicholas Rodriguez, Christopher Hanke, Mimi Scardulla, Victor Jackson, Tyler Hanes, and Luke Hakins. Students travel from U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington D.C., and from countries including Russia, Brazil, New Zealand, and Canada.

LOST IN THE DISCO is a unique experience of immersive theater, where the audience is directly involved within the performance, and where actors/dancers/singers are performing among the public. The greatest Disco Classics will surround this love story, punctuated with comedy, where cast members act and sing among the audience and invite them to join the dance floor. Lost in the Disco will play 4 performances in the unique decor of the Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street New York 10002) from November 6th to December 3rd 2019. This experience will plunge you back in the golden age of disco time and craziness of the legendary Studio 54 with classics by Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Michael Jackson, Le Chic, Shalamar, Taste of Honey, Saturday Night Fever, Earth Wind & Fire, and many more to be performed by a versatile 9 members cast.

NY PHIL Off The Grid, the series of chamber music parties hosted by Musicians from the New York Philharmonic performing in unexpected locations throughout New York City, continues with the third and final pop-up of the season on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 7:15 p.m. Off The Grid — Vol. 6 is inspired by the upcoming subscription concerts, May 19–20 and 23, that feature the New York Premieres of Kravis Emerging Composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Aeriality and The Marie-Josée Kravis Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen's Wing on Wing, with sopranos Anu and Piia Komsi, as well as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leonidas Kavakos as soloist in Brahms's Violin Concerto. The event will be held at a location near the L subway line on the border of Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn; as with past NY PHIL Off The Grid events, the exact location will remain a secret until shortly before the day of the event.
