Next to Normal at mad Theatre of Tampa

mad Theatre of Tampa is excited to present the Tampa Bay premiere of the Tony award-winning musical, Next to Normal. With book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, this rock opera is directed by Anthony Paul Gilkinson with music direction by Peter Belk and explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. The musical addresses such issues as grief, drug abuse, modern psychiatry and their impact on a family. Broadway World named mad Theatre the Best Community Theater Company in 2014. mad’s production features Casey Vaughan, Stephen Riordan, Eric Lamont Newman, Tess Carr, Christian Peña & Jared Michael Shari.
