MEMPHIS Plays the Van Wezel Tonight
The critically acclaimed Broadway sensation Memphis comes to the Van Wezel tonight, April 4, 2015 at 8pm. Winning four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score, four Drama Desk Awards and four Outer Critic Circle Awards, it is safe to say that Memphis is magnificent!
With ingenious staging and direction paired with fresh and energized choreography, Memphis has taken the Broadway stage by storm. The sensuous and soulful story unfolds in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50's. A young white DJ Huey Calhoun, falls in love with everything he shouldn't: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever.
