Florida's Spanish Lyric Theatre Announces the Cast for THE FANTASTICKS Image

Spanish Lyric Theatre/SLT Productions is proud to announce the cast of THE FANTASTICKS, directed by Aaron Washington, with music direction by Kevin M. Dorey. The cast features Craig Ruska (el Gallo), Kristen Walker (Luisa), Aaron Castle (Matt), Richard Prada (Hucklebee), Thomas Lech, Jr. (Bellomy), Ernie Rowland (Henry), Bob Stemm (Mortimer) and Lauren Clark Dykes (the Mute).

The Fantasticks is a musical with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. It tells an allegorical story, loosely based on the play The Romancers(Les Romanesques) by Edmond Rostand, concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. The fathers hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, ending the supposed feud. When the children discover the deception, they reject the arranged love match and separate. Each then gains disillusioning experiences of the real world, seen in parallel fantasy sequences. They return to each other bruised but enlightened, and they renew their vows with more maturity.

Performance dates and times are: September 22 @ 7:30 pm; September 23 @ 2:00 and 7:30 pm; and September 24 @ 3:00 pm. Performances will be held at Hillsborough Community College (HCC Ybor campus) located at 1304 E. 11th Avenue, Tampa, FL. Ticket prices at $25 (adults); $20 (students and seniors); $10 (children under 10) and groups of 10 or more are $20. Tickets are available online at www.spanishlyrictheatre/tickets.

THE FANTASTICKS is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI www.Mtishows.com
