BIG FISH is a Broadway Musical  adapted from Tim Burton’s 2003 film of the same title, and is the story of a man named Edward Bloom who aspired to do “great things” and be the hero of his own life story. He tries to relate that sense of adventure and aspiration in his son and all the people around him by telling tall tales.

Artist applications are now open for the largest annual exhibit of public sculptures in the world – SculptureWalk Sioux Falls. Professional and amateur sculptors of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply to be part of the 2024 exhibit, which will be the organization's 21st year of bringing art to the people.

The Premiere Playhouse, a non-profit theatre organization based in Sioux Falls has opened their inaugural production of The Premiere Premieres at the Belbas Theater in the Washington Pavilion. The performance was a culmination of a year long, three phase new play development program and included plays by local playwrights: Broadly Speaking... And Other B.S. (Act 1) by Nancy Tapken, Beth Olsen, Julie Haddock-Sauer, Jill Johnson, and Sue Martens as well as The Theater at Night (Act 2) by Mo Hurley.

The Chicago Philharmonic Society has announced the addition of four dynamic new members to the organization's Board of Directors.

The Premiere Playhouse has teamed up with Joe Obermueller and Kevin Cole, faculty members at the University of Sioux Falls, to bring Sioux Falls the Festival of New Plays!

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts virtually hosted more than 125 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. 

University of Sioux Falls' production of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME is an adaptation by Simon Stephens of the 2003 Mark Haddon mystery novel of the same name. It is party mystery, and part visual glimpse inside the mind of the protagonist Christopher Boone.

It's a joyful experience at the theatre when I can sit at Jeschke Fine Arts at University of Sioux Falls, surrounded by so many students in attendance to support classmates on opening night of The Addams Family, A New Musical Comedy. Director Joe Obermueller very adeptly, and with great humor, brings a young group of performers to their own individual personal bests and then molds a team of artists who brought passion and whimsy to iconic caricatures that became the characters of this show with delightful layers. It is clear he has empowered every performer, from the girl with the contortionist poses in the ancestral family chorus, to principal and supporting cast members to bring their 'A+ Game' to the stage.

SculptureWalk has entered into a professional services agreement with Washington Pavilion Management Inc. (WPMI) to provide operational administration for the organization.

The Bates Trimble Gallery offers a new exhibition titled On the Edge featuring artwork of three University of Sioux Falls professors, Ceca Cooper, Nick Poppens and Joe Schaeffer. The exhibit closely reveals the new realities many faced during the past year and offer a unique perspective “how the world has lived on the edge.”

Thanks to an expansive array of exhibitions from well-known artists along with two holiday opportunities for children, it is a great time for families and adults to visit the Visual Arts Center in the Washington Pavilion.
