The Institute for American Musical Theatre is pioneering a new approach to performing arts career preparation. Based in New York City and with a faculty comprised entirely of Broadway and industry professionals, we are best described as a trade school for Broadway.
IAMT's faculty consists of top industry professionals with extensive experience on Broadway, television and film. We are dedicated to pairing an intensive training curriculum in acting, singing, dance, film/tv with our industry-based curriculum that is designed to get students in the room with working professionals - providing students with not only the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this industry, but the real world connections and hands on access that offer an advantage in a highly competitive field.
IAMT is a post-secondary, two-year conservatory style Professional Training Program for students 17 years of age and up. A Summer Intensive for high school students and performers through age 19 is also offered every July.

Acceptance Rate:
The Institute for American Musical Theatre (IAMT) has selective admissions and a rolling admissions process with no deadline until spots are filled. The program requires in person or video auditions and a 2-year full-time program in New York City.

For most of my high school career, I thought I wanted to attend a four-year university, but I hadn’t considered why I wanted to take that path. When I stepped back and thought about what I truly wanted, none of those expectations ultimately impacted my decision at all. I knew I wanted to be in New York City, but other than that, I just wanted to get the best training I possibly could, 4-year school or not.
