South Bend Civic Theatre Holds Auditions for STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, 9/10-12

By:

SBCT would like to announce auditions for our upcoming production Strangers on a Train (directed by Craig MacNab). Scripts are available to read for a refundable $10 deposit. Visit the Box Office 12-6pm weekdays to check out scripts. **Scripts must be returned within 48 hours of auditions so please check out scripts now!

Auditions for Strangers on a Train will be held September 10 at 10:00 AM and September 12 at 7:00 PM in SBCT's Mainstage Auditorium, 403 N. Main Street. This is a brilliantly written thriller. If you have seen the film, you may want to take a look at the script because there are aspects of the script that work so much better than the film: the script is fuller, the characters are richer and are essential to moving and complicating the plot.

The two main characters--Charles and Bruno--meet on a train, talk about how their lives would be better without the problematic women in their lives and "jokingly" plan the perfect murder--which one of them takes too seriously. Strangers on a Train will make your skin crawl--but in a good way!
Characters:

• Charles Bruno- 25-35 - A truly juicy part-The anti-hero. A drunken, amoral, psychotic killer. A mama's boy (do you think that they really . . .?) He develops an intense obsession with Guy Haines that borders on the erotic.

Guy Haines- 25-35 - The hero (?) Basically a good guy, although flawed. Drawn into a nightmare vortex of murder, Guy literally suffers the torments of the damned. He is redeemed by the love of a good woman.

• Elsie Bruno- late 40s - A plum part for the right woman. Mommy dearest. A fading hottie, with the emphasis on hottie. Her relationship with her son, Charles Bruno is skin-crawlingly close. There is great loneliness and sadness in this character.

• Anne Faulkner- 25-30 - The heroine. Sweet, but sexy-not a dewy-eyed innocent. Remember that her relationship with Guy begins as an illicit affair with a married man. In the end, she shows great love and great strength.

Frank Meyers- 30-40 - A "friend of the lead" part. Frank is a work associate of Guy's. This is a nice solid part, not a bit.

• Robert Treacher-25-35 - A "friend of the lead" part. Robert Is an old college friend of Guy's who is best man at Anne and Guy's wedding. He has one lovely scene selling Guy on the Alberta bridge project by reminding him of his youthful idealism.

• Arthur Gerard- 40-60 - Bruno's father's security man, an ex-policeman. Gerard is the implacable detective who figures it all out and then acts as judge and jury. This is a very nice part that is all in Act II.

Performances for Strangers on a Train will be October 28 to November 13 in the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium.
