Rooiland is a narrative of narratives, inherited memories that become weapons in the mouths of prisoners. Pomobasa, Nongoloza and Kilikijan make the transition from man to myth, spinning the web in which Rooiland is set. Four men in a cramped cell fight for space to sleep, space to speak, space to think. When everyone screams together, some sort of truth emerges.
