Makin' Magic, a production by Cape Town's College of Magic, comes to the Artscape Theatre on 6 and 7 June, featuring more than 50 students and graduates of the organization. The story unfolds in the laboratory of the Professor, played by actor Matthew Baldwin, where a mysterious monster causes experiments to spiral out of control, leading to magical mishaps and inventive illusions. The production combines illusion, comedy and storytelling, with audience participation and moments ranging from close-up magic on live video to large-scale stage illusions. Founded in 1980, the College of Magic is a non-profit organisation dedicated to teaching the art of magic, performance and life skills to young people in Cape Town.
