Damsel in Distress at Rhumbelow Theatre, Durban

Damsel in Distress is a solo cabaret starring Kiruna-Lind Devar as Griselda, a librarian who has retreated from life into the safer world of fiction. Her sheltered existence is disrupted by the arrival of the charming Edward Pamment, awakening curiosity about the world beyond her self-built walls. Featuring songs including I Love Paris, Mein Herr, At Seventeen, Windmills of Your Mind, Bang-Bang and You Don't Own Me, the show explores femicide and gender-based violence alongside themes of hope, heart, courage and survival. Directed by Daniel Anderson with musical direction by Samantha Riedel and script by Amanda Bothma.
