Carmen at Ster-Kinekor

Cape Town Opera's acclaimed production of Georges Bizet's Carmen, filmed live at Artscape Opera House, comes to the big screen. Based on Prosper Mérimée's novella and set in 1930s Seville, the opera tells a gripping story of passion, freedom, desire and jealousy. It stars Nonhlanhla Yende as Carmen, Lukhanyo Moyake as Don José, Vuvu Mpofu as Micaëla and Conroy Scott as Escamillo, with the Cape Town Opera Vocal Ensemble, Children's Chorus and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Tim Murray. Directed by Steven Stead, with sets by Greg King, costumes by Maritha Visagie, lighting by Faheem Bardien and choreography by Naoline Quinzin.
