Ibsens classic A Doll’s House receives an acclaimed modern makeover by Standard Bank Young Artist winner Christiaan Olwagen featuring a stellar cast and creative team at the Baxter, following its knock-out success when it premiered at the 2015 National Arts Festival.
Norah Helmer (Jennifer Steyn) seems to have it all: a successful husband, a loving family and a beautiful home. But the arrival of an unexpected visitor threatens to expose a secret and unravel her seemingly perfect life.
This psychological thriller about partnership and power, marriage and money, love and lies, still resonate viscerally in today’s contemporary society, 137 years since it premiered. The play has been, and is still being staged throughout the world. It’s universal and controversial themes about anxiety and complex characters make it as relevant today.
