Pioneer Theatre Company presents a Concert Production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, based on the wildly popular 1988 MGM comedy that was a hit film starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine. The principal cast includes Broadway actors BRENT BARRETT as Lawrence Jameson, MATTHEW HYDZIK as Freddy Benson; and KATE FAHRNER as Christine Colgate.

The York Theatre Company honored Five-time Tony Award-winning musical theatre director/choreographer Susan Stroman with the 2018 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre and Betty Cooper Wallerstein with the York Theatre Company Founders' Award at the 27th Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala held on November 12, 2018 at The Edison Ballroom.

This week the third concert in this landmark 18th season of Town Hall's signature series, Broadway by the Year drew out some of Broadway's finest performers including Tony-nominee Carolee Carmello, Drama Desk nominee Cheryl Freeman, Luke Grooms (Jerry Springer: The Opera), Douglas Ladnier (Jekyll & Hyde), Maxine Linehan (South Pacific), Kyle Selig(Mean Girls), Oakley Boycott (Bells Are Ringing), Joshua Israel (Annie). The Mac-Haydn Theatre (MHT), after a successful run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, continues its 49th season with the 2004 musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Based off of the 1988 movie of the same name, the 10-time Tony nominated musical by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane will be a MHT premiere.

American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

Stage, screen, and cabaret star Julie Wilson passed away yesterday, April 5, from complications from two recent stokes. She was 90 years old. Below, BroadwayWorld takes you back through the last two decades of her versatile career.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's 2011 Season continues this summer when it brings the smash hit musical comedy Hairspray to the stage. Hairspray is another in a line of shows that have had their regional or area premiere at Way Off Broadway.

BROADWAY BACKWARDS 6, the one-night-only event held Monday at the Longacre Theatre, raised a record-breaking $281,243 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (the Center). This year's total far surpassed last year's previous record total of $186,780.

On Monday, November 22, Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer of Lincoln Center Theater (LCT) received the John Houseman Award for his work at Lincoln Center and as Joseph Papp's Associate Producer of The New York Shakespeare Festival (NYSF) at The Acting Company's Masquerade Gala. Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA), was also honored with the Joan Warburg Humanitarian Award for his leadership and advocacy in the fight against AIDS. Kelsey Grammer and Patti LuPone entertained as Angela Lansbury, Marian Seldes, Elizabeth Wilson, Campbell Scott, Dana Ivey, Shubert's Philip Smith and Robert Wankel, Jujamcyn's Paul Libin, Equity's Nick Wyman, The Actors Fund's Joe Benecasa and The Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin and more joined the salute. From the genius who created the smash hit, 'Rent,' comes 'tick, tick...BOOM!,' a vital American musical about a young artist on the verge in New York City. Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, Connecticut, will stage this lesser-known work by Jonathan Larson, June 23 through July 18. The director is Scott Schwartz, who helmed the original off-Broadway production of 'tick, tick... BOOM!,' winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for outstanding musical.

Kandis Chappell and Melanie Lora take on the celebrated roles of Professor Ruth Steiner and Lisa Morrison in Donald Margulies? Collected Stories at South Coast Repertory. Margulies? Pulitzer Prize-nominated play about two women writers at opposite stages of their careers is one of SCR?s best-known commissions and has achieved worldwide success. Directed by Artistic Director Martin Benson, Collected Stories will run from May 15 through June 14, 2009 on the Segerstrom Stage. Low-priced previews are available from May 15 through May 21. Opening night is May 22. Press night is Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets to Collected Stories may be purchased online at www.scr.org, by phone at (714) 708-5555 or in person at the SCR box office.
