West Bromwich Operatic Society return to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from 1 – 5 October with their production of THE WIZARD OF OZ, just weeks after the famous film version celebrated it's 80th Anniversary. The Operatic Society celebrated their 80th anniversary last year with a hugely successful run of West Side Story.

Cariri City, Ceara, is the starting point of the show O Magico di O, a place without rain and hope, from where a group of northeasterns go to Sao Paulo City in search of a better life. Using a Cordel Literature version of the classic The Wizard of Oz, the musical idealized by Vitor Rocha and Luiza Porto deals with home, go away and change of view bringing original songs. The opening is scheduled for August 10 at Teatro Joao Caetano.

The story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has gone through many incarnations over the years: An American fairytale, a Broadway extravaganza, one of the first technicolor MGM movie musicals, and the 1989 West End holiday musical. Now, complete with dancing Munchkins and flying monkeys, Sierra Rep is delighted to present The Wizard of Oz this summer at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park. The book is by John Kane, music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It has additional background music by Herbert Stothart. It is based on the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film version written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf. This production will be co-directed by Scott Viets and Jerry Lee, who previously teamed up for Holiday Jukebox and The Robber Bridegroom. The production sponsor is DSN Outdoor.

The creative team has delivered a beautiful, inventive and masterful version of the classic 'The Wizard of Oz'. Visually it is pleasantly different to what we are used to, but it is very audibly familiar.

Breathing new life into the 1939 classic motion picture, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams' adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ finally landed in Sydney to the delight of the opening night audience. The North American Premiere of The Wizard of Oz took place Sunday at The Ed Mirvish Theatre, featuring CBC Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Wade in the iconic role of Dorothy. On Thursday morning members of Toronto's media were given a sneak peek look at the brand new Canadian production of The Wizard of Oz. The North American premiere will take place this holiday season at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, featuring Danielle Wade in the lead role of Dorothy after she won the CBC competition 'Over the Rainbow'. BWW is thrilled to bring readers photos from the sneak peek!

More than 250 children from the marginalized areas of Cavite and Quezon cities were treated to a charity performance of Repertory Philippines' current children's musical offering, THE WIZARD OF OZ, at Onstage Theatre, Greenbelt One, Makati City on Sunday, September 30.

A day before the musical opened, Repertory Philippines' THE WIZARD OF OZ held a press preview at Greenbelt One's Onstage Theatre with Cara Barredo as Dorothy Gale, along with James Stacey as the Scarecrow, Hans Eckstein as the Tin Man, and Oliver Usison as the Lion.

Repertory Philippines has just released its publicity photos for THE WIZARD OF OZ, music by Jean Bargy and Jim Eiler, and book and lyrics by Eiler, which runs at Onstage Theatre at Greenbelt One, Ayala Malls, Makati City for five months, from Saturday, August 18 to Sunday, December 16.

On Monday hundreds of girls ventured out to the CBC studio in downtown Toronto for an open call to cast the next Dorothy in an upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy will be cast via reality TV show Over the Rainbow, where participants will perform songs and be judged each week in the style of Canadian Idol. The winner will don the ruby slippers when The Wizard of Oz opens via Mirvish Productions later this year. BWW was thrilled to be on hand to bring our readers photos from inside the auditions.

Two performers step into the Gotta Go Spotlight by standing out with the energy and enthusiasm brought to their roles. Curry, whose version of Professor Marvel was a little quiet and sedate, delighted the audience with his animated style as the Wizard. Portraying the phony wizard with just the right amount of vulnerability and sweetness, Curry creates a very likable character.

Director Jeremy Showgren is borrowing heavily from steampunk, a recent fashion and entertainment movement that takes futuristic elements and places them in the past. He takes Dorothy's dream, where the magic of Oz unfolds, and provides glimpses of the future.
