Great success of the theatrical season in Rio de Janeiro, the musical 'O Frenetico Dancin'Days' finally arrives in Sao Paulo. The show rescues the mythical aura around the Frenetic Dancing'Days Discotheque, which was a milestone in the Brazilian night, especially the carioca, with only four months of operation, establishing fashion, behavior and celebrating freedom, when the country was in full military dictatorship. Musical by Nelson Motta and Patricia Andrade, directed by Deborah Colker, will open on March 15 at Teatro Opus.

Steppenwolf Education's Professional Leadership Programs (PLP) offer opportunities through Internships, Apprenticeships and Fellowships for students, graduates, and early-career professionals. Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces a change in name from the Steppenwolf Multicultural Fellowship to the Steppenwolf Fellowship, in addition to a restructuring of the program to include a 30-hour externship. The Fellowship cohort is made up of early career people of color who hold an apprenticeship in their department of interest at Steppenwolf and are given additional paid professional development seminars and externship opportunities. The externship allows Fellows the opportunity to explore more deeply their individual professional goals, make connections to theatre practitioners outside of Steppenwolf's walls and provide more opportunities for mentorship across the industry.

A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.

Roque Santeiro, by Dias Gomes, premieres on January 27 at Teatro FAAP with musical direction by Zeca Baleiro and scenic direction by Debora Dubois. The play written in 1963 should have been staged in 1965, but was censored by the military government. In 1975, Dias Gomes (1922-1999) adapted the work for television and this version was also prohibited. Only ten years later, in 1985, with the country experiencing a process of democratization, the soap opera was finally broadcasted.

Monday night at the upstairs library at The Player's Club, young actor/vocalist Evan Stern collaborated with one of cabaret's treasures, the veteran pianist/arranger/vocalist Steve Ross on a show illuminating the influence of a southern upbringing on the work of iconic songwriter and Savannah, Georgia native Johnny Mercer. The piece was beautifully put together with Stern's intermittent repartee (never dropping a musical stitch), reflecting his skills as an actor as well as a writer.
