As 2018 comes to a close, we are reflecting on those we have lost in the Broadway and theatre communities throughout the year.

The National Theatre production of NETWORK, which opens on Broadway tonight, stars Bryan Cranston, Tony Goldwyn, and Tatiana Maslany. The show's stars are lauded for their television roles, but do you know all about their big breaks? Here's how they got their starts in the acting world!

This week's Broadway Series production ushers in the holiday season with the stage adaptation of the 1983 movie, A Christmas Story. It took almost three decades for the musical to come into being, hitting Broadway November 2012. The perennial television favorite is a nostalgic stroll through small-town northern Indiana circa 1940. And a new tradition is developing with recent years' seasonal tours of A Christmas Story The Musical.

The Players Club of Swarthmore Presents A CHRISTMAS STORY, The Musical , a holiday delight for the whole family. Based on the classic movie A Christmas Story released in 1983. A Christmas Story, The Musical features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land) and an inventive book by Joseph Robinette. A Christmas Story, The Musical is directed and choreographed by Nate Golden. Music direction is by Madi Juleskusky. Tickets are available online at www.pcstheater.org. This season, Harvey Fierstein's seminal Broadway classic, Torch Song has made its way back to Broadway 36 years after its original run, in a brand-new production.

Almost Adults Productions presents a staged reading event

With tacky leg lamps, weird department store Santas, and ruined turkey dinners - courtesy of the neighbor's dog - the holiday season commences at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre with "A Christmas Story - The Musical." This festive production is presented by M&M Stage Productions Fridays, Nov. 16 and 30 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Nov. 17, 24 and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Nov. 18, 25 and Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus "Va, pensiero," from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

Hulu has announced the titles that are coming and going in November. Please note titles and dates are subject to change.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in the Berkshires under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, presents Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. Previews for The Glass Menagerie begin October 3, with an official opening on October 7 and performances through October 21 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage (30 Union Street).

The Warner Theatre will present its 7th Annual International Playwrights Festival held in the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre on October 12 and 13, 2018. The mission of the International Playwrights Festival is to recognize the work of emerging and established playwrights and to build a link between the playwrights, the theatre community and our audiences.

Align Entertainment presents the hilarious holiday classic A Christmas Story: The Musical from November 2-17, 2018, at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby. The multi-Ovation Award-winning producers have assembled a talented cast of local stars and young up-and-comers for the heartfelt Broadway adaptation of Jean Shepherd and Bob Clark's 1983 film. The musical is set to an infectiously delightful score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (creators of La La Land and The Greatest Showman), and follows the story of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker, who wants nothing more for Christmas than an official Red Ryder Carbine Action BB gun. The story is a celebration of childhood and imaginative discovery, a triumphant family-friendly experience that will hit home with anyone who ever desperately wanted a toy during the holidays.

Hannah Chissick directs Jasper Britton as (Stewart), Sia Dauda (Sally), Alasdair Harvey (Peter Kroger), Chris Larkin (Bob Jackson), Macy Nyman (Julie Jackson), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Helen Kroger), Natalie Walter (Thelma) and Finty Williams (Barbara Jackson). The production opens on 1 October, with previews from 20 September, and runs until 17 November.

The Strand Theater Company proudly presents the opening production of its 11th Season, 'Night, Mother  by Marsha Norman. 

Actor Patrick Cassidy, best known for his roles in musical theatre and television, headlines Some Enchanted Evening ~ A Night of Broadway Song & Dance to benefit Inland Pacific Ballet, the professional ballet company based in the Inland Empire. This 2nd annual intimate cabaret evening features song and dance by Inland Pacific Ballet dancers and Academy students, cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, dessert, silent/live auction, and is hosted by IPB Associate Director Jonathan Sharp (The Red Shoes, Carousel, The Rocky Horror Show Live, The Dance of the Vampires, Fiddler on the Roof). Bill Kenwright's production of the international smash hit musical Blood Brothers announces its 2018 Autumn tour, opening on Tuesday 4 September at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley and visits St Helens Theatre Royal from Tue 11 - Sat 15 September.

Walnut Street Theatre opens its landmark 210th season with the lush romantic comedy Irving Berlin's HOLIDAY INN, featuring a score by "America's Songwriter."  Based on the classic film by the same name, the production will be directed by Charles Abbott and choreographed by Michelle Gaudette. Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn begins previews on September 4th, opens on September 12th, and runs through October 21st on the Walnut's Mainstage.
