Sarasota Opera Announces Casting For New Recital Series

Victor DeRenzi, Artistic Director, and Richard Russell, Executive Director, are pleased to announce the casting for Sarasota Opera's new Recital Series. The new series, which was inspired by the rich operetta and song traditions from around the world, will feature favorite artists performing opera, operetta, and art songs with piano accompaniment.

New Repertory Theatre Presents SO DEEP IS THE NIGHT: An Evening of Song with Ute Gfrerer, a cabaret-style concert for one night only, Monday, October 29, 2018 at 7:30pm. Gfrerer will be accompanied by Asher Denburg (piano) and Caitlin Thomas (cello). The special event takes place on the mainstage at the Mosesian Center for the Arts located at 321 Arsenal Street in Watertown, MA. CSO Cellist Richard Hirschl Joins New Philharmonic For MAC Concerts

Joined by Chicago Symphony Orchestra cellist Richard Hirschl, New Philharmonic, will perform two concerts featuring works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. The concerts, conducted by Maestro Kirk Muspratt, will be held at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd.; Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. A free MAC Chat will precede each concert. Metropolitan Opera Presents North American Premiere Of Nico Muhly's MARNIE

The Metropolitan Opera presents the North American premiere of Marnie, an original Met commission by composer Nico Muhly and librettist Nicholas Wright, on October 19, 2018, with performances continuing until November 10. Based on Winston Graham's haunting novel, which also inspired the classic Alfred Hitchcock film, Marnie is conducted by Robert Spano in his Met debut and directed by Michael Mayer, who created the staging for the opera's world premiere at English National Opera in 2017. The November 10 matinee will be transmitted live to movie theaters throughout the world as part of the Met's Live in HD series.

Fascinating Aida's Adele Anderson is confirmed to join Mark Williams, who plays Doctor Dolittle, in the UK & Ireland Tour of Doctor Dolittle. Adele will play Lady Bellowes/Poison Arrow at the first six venues of the tour - Bromley, Salford, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Newcastle and Hull. There will be a national press night on Thursday 17 January 2019 at the Oxford New Theatre.

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus 'Va, pensiero,' from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.
