TV: From Coalhouse to Burr- Brandon Victor Dixon Is Ready for His HAMILTON Debut!

Last night he brought the Ellis Island audience to its feet with his performance as Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime, and now he is gearing up for a new role. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, just weeks after finishing his run in SHUFFLE ALONG, two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon will join the cast of HAMILTON as Aaron Burr later this month.

Look around, look around: There hasn't been a kid craze this big since Elsa whipped off her gloves and decided to you-know-what! This time, however, it isn't Disney that's leading the charge, it's history, and it's not just happening in New York anymore. As part of a week-long celebration (#Hamilweek), youngsters across the country sent in videos of themselves singing 'Schuyler Sisters' from the juggernaut Hamilton, to congratulate the hit musical's team on their one-year anniversary on Broadway. Commissioned by Alexander Hamilton in 1790, August 4th marked the anniversary of the founding of the US Coast Guard. To commemorate the occasion members of the Broadway musical Hamilton joined Capt. Matthew Meilstrup for a ride-in of the Cutter Eagle up the Hudson River.

As HAMILTON continues its journey as a nationwide phenomenon, the Chicago company is growing, and the Broadway cast has welcomed new changes since their 11 Tony award-winning sweep in June. As BroadwayWorld reported earlier, the Chicago production of HAMILTON has found its Aaron Burr in two-time Tony award nominee Joshua Henry, and the Broadway cast will now feature Mandy Gonzalez and Jonathan Kirkland as Angelica Schuyler and George Washington, respectively.

Recently winning a Tony Award and Grammy for her role as Angelica Schuyler, Goldsberry spoke about the incredible journey that Hamilton has taken from workshopping a concept, to performing at The Public and moving to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, to earning 16 Tony nominations and winning a Pulitzer Prize.
