LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE will present one of August Wilson's greatest triumphs focusing on the decade of the ‘50s, the Pulitzer Prize winning play FENCES, directed by Yvette Freeman-Hartley (Laguna Playhouse acclaimed production of Ain't Misbehavin'). 

The Oregon Symphony and Jean Vollum Music Director David Danzmayr have announced the appointment of two key musician leaders while bidding farewell to two of its longtime and revered members. Jessica Lee will join the Symphony as Associate Concertmaster, filling the seat of 40-year veteran Peter Frajola, who retires at the end of this season; and Harrison Linsey takes over for Martin Hébert as Principal Oboe.

Dan Duling’s Tesla: A Radio Play for the Stage opens October 4, 2024, for five performances only as part of the Getty-led PST ART: Art & Science Collide Festival. Michael Arabian directs the stellar cast of: Gregory Harrison, Dan Lauria, Hal Linden, Charles Shaughnessy, French Stewart and Vanessa Claire Stewart at the Ramo Auditorium on the Caltech campus.

 It is only appropriate, since the National Spelling Bee wound down last week, that Cain Park, the Cleveland Heights outdoor entertainment venue, has mounted THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.

Harry Lennix (The Blacklist, The DC Universe) and Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: SVU, I Wanna Dance with Somebody) will join the cast of its world premiere of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Purpose.

Matthew Broderick will lead the cast of the world-premiere production of Babbitt, by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis), adapted from the novel by Sinclair Lewis, choreographed by Stephen Buescher, directed by Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley.

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota will present 26 concerts during its 28th season, Stars Ascending. The season – sponsored by Ernie Kretzmer – runs from October 1, 2023 through May 14, 2024 and offers a diverse range of intimate musical experiences featuring emerging and established classical, jazz, pops, and chamber artists presented at eight venues throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties.

In the third week of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival 2023, Germany-based Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart will return to Jacob’s Pillow, July 12-16.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley has announced its 53rd season to be presented October 2023 through June 2024.

Arden Theatre Company is bringing audiences back into the world of August Wilson's ten-part series, The American Century Cycle. This time audiences will journey to Pittsburgh in the late 1990s for the final play of the cycle, August Wilson's Radio Golf. This bittersweet drama of assimilation and alienation in nineties America traces the forces of change on a neighborhood and its people caught between history and the twenty-first century. This is the fifth play in the cycle that the Arden has produced.  Kash Goins, who was an actor in the Arden's production of Two Trains Running, returns to direct. August Wilson's Radio Golf runs March 23-April 16.

Tony & Grammy Award winner and Academy & Emmy Award nominee Leslie Odom, Jr. will star in the new Broadway production of the classic American comedy Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch by the legendary Ossie Davis.

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) has announced an extension for the world premiere musical Cornelia Street. The production, which will begin performances this Friday, January 20th and open on Tuesday, February 14th, will now play through Sunday, March 5th, Off-Broadway at Atlantic Stage 2.

Detroit Repertory Theatre will be starting the new year with the Michigan Professional Premiere of Gem of the Ocean, written by one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century, August Wilson. August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean opens January 13, 2023, at 8:30 pm with a champagne reception and closes March 5, 2023.
