Once Upon a Mattress

Birdland Jazz Club will host the return of Jeff Harnar in his show The 1959 Broadway Songbook. Harnar will be joined by his music director Alex Rybeck, in addition to Tom Hubbard on bass and Dan Gross on drums. 

The musical comedy Once Upon A Mattress will be presented at Birmingham Village Players. Once Upon A Mattress is a re-telling of the fable of 'The Princess and the Pea.' When the show opened in 1959, it made a star out of Carol Burnett.

Jeff Harnar will bring his show The 1959 Broadway Songbook t0 Delray Beach Playhouse in Delray Beach, FL for five shows from December 15-17. Learn more here!

Carol Burnett has funded a scholarship at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. The scholarship will support undergraduate students in the school’s Ray Bolger Musical Theater Program.

The remastered and revised album celebrating the Golden Age of Broadway comes out on 10/3, with a 10/6 album release concert at Birdland Jazz Club. We spoke to Harnar about the new album and show.
