Producer Julian Schlossberg announces that Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning writer and actress Renee Taylor - known to millions for her role as Fran Fine's food-obsessed mother, Sylvia, on 'The Nanny' - will return to the New York stage this summer in MY LIFE ON A DIET, an autobiographical comedy written by Ms. Taylor and her late husband Joseph Bologna. Originally directed by Mr. Bologna, MY LIFE ON A DIET will have its New York premiere Off-Broadway at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46 Street, between Ninth & Tenth Aves) beginning Thursday, July 12, 2018.

Pittsburgh CLO has amassed an impressive lineup of Broadway stars and Pittsburgh CLO veterans to bring the 2018 Summer Season to life June-August. The organization's core mission to produce shows locally helps to employ artists each year from Pittsburgh and across the country.

Variety has reported that Jeff Goldblum will record his first jazz album and release it on Decca Records. The album came about after the actor accompanied soul-jazz singer Gregory Porter on the BBC talk show The Graham Norton Show last October while promoting his film Thor: Ragnarok. Goldblum's skills caught the attention of Decca executives during the episode.

Leaders in entertainment, politics, business and medicine will gather at Tower Cancer Research Foundation's Tower of Hope Gala on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 to honor Lisa and Larry Rosenstein, Randi and Warren Grant, and Dr. Alan Wayne for their ongoing commitment to raising awareness about cancer, and their dedication to ending the disease.  All My Children's Colin Egglesfield will present an award to Dr. Alan Wayne, and Erin Cummings, breast cancer survivor who garnered international visibility when she starred on the Starz flagship series, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", will serve as Master of Ceremonies.  Several research grants will be awarded at the Gala, including Tower's first ever $1 Million grant to a sole investigator, City of Hope's Dr. Xiaochun Yu.  Dr. Yu is receiving the grant as part of Tower's Power of Precision Campaign for his work focusing on ADP-ribosylation and cancer therapy.  This grant will explore how to use a weakness of cancer cells to target DNA damage repair pathways, and develop novel chemotherapeutic approaches.  The event will begin at 6:00 PM at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, 9876 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California.

On Monday, May 14, 2018, Third Street Music School Settlement (Third Street), the nation's longest running community school, will honor Grammy Award-winning Singer and Songwriter Rosanne Cash, Tony and Oscar Award-winner Joel Grey, and long-time Board Member and Award-winning Architect Byron Bell at its Annual Spring Gala. For over twenty years the award winning play Visiting Mr. Green has been presented around the world and been receiving great reviews, including in Israel where it won the 2001 Israeli Theatre Awards in the Best Play category. Last week Beit Lessin Theatre premiered its new production of the play, directed by Nathan Datner.

It was announced today that Elena Shaddow will join the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I as Anna Leonowens, beginning March 20 in Tempe, AZ.

REPRISE 2.0 is now announced, presenting a season of three classic American musicals at UCLA's Freud Playhouse, by Marcia Seligson, Producing Artistic Director of the new performing arts organization.  REPRISE 2.0 is partnering with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT), chaired by Brian Kite. 

The Juilliard School announced today that it has received a bequest from Academy Award-winning composer and conductor John Williams of his complete library of concert music and film music scores as well as his sketchbooks. Mr. Williams, who studied piano with longtime Juilliard faculty member Rosina Lhevinne, announced the gift at a special alumni event held in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, where Mr. Williams was also presented with a President's Medal by Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi.

The 2018-2019 Zions Bank Broadway at the Eccles season was unveiled at the opening night of this week's sold-out engagement of The Sound of Music.

Eva Cassidy's SONGBIRD album was initially released by independent label Blix Street Records in April, 1998.  The posthumous release, an anthology of recordings by the Washington, DC-based singer who had died in November of 1996, is comprised of four tracks from her first solo album, LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY(taken from her January 3, 1996 performance with her band at the Georgetown jazz club and locally released a few months before she died); five tracks from EVA BY HEART, the studio album she was recording at the time of her passing, posthumously released locally a year after she died; and one track (Over The Rainbow) from THE OTHER SIDE, a 1992 collection of jazz and blues duets with Washington's Chuck Brown.

The Theatre Group at SBCC will present will be the comedy thriller COMMUNICATING DOORS by Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Katie Laris, February 28-March 17, 2018  in the Garvin Theatre. This intricate, time traveling, comic thriller by the British master of farcical comedy delighted London and New York audiences.

Patchogue Theatre to produce a full concert version of the exciting, Broadway altering and Tony, Drama Desk and Grammy winning musical "HAIR." The concert production will be directed by Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner John McDaniel and will star Broadway and American Idol's Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, along with a cast of young Broadway and national touring talent.
