BWW Review: The Romance of Backstage Haunts Third Rail Projects' GHOST LIGHT

The newest offering at Lincoln Center's Claire Tow Theater features a beautiful dreamscape depicting a woman in a small boat being guided through swelling ocean waves by a friendly face painted on the moon. As designed by Brett J. Banakis (set), Montana Levi Blanco (costumes) and Eric Southern (lights), it's a romantic tribute to a style of theatre that made box offices buzz over a hundred years ago. In 1928, Ruth Snyder was executed for the murder of her husband; that same year, Sophie Treadwell wrote Machinal, inspired by Snyder's story. Now, playwright Steph Del Rosso has crafted a relentless, raucous exploration of feminism - part rock concert, part performance art - inspired by Treadwell's expressionist masterpiece. This production, created for the IDEAS Festival 2017 in San Diego and subsequently presented at Ubuntu Theater in the Bay Area, lands at JACK under the direction of rising theater-maker Will Detlefsen. Sol Children Theatre Presents ALICE IN WONDERLAND - 8/10 - 20

Sol Theatre will play host to The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum, Tweedledee, and of course The White Rabbit, when Sol Children Theatre presents Seth Trucks' adaptation of Lewis Carroll's magical classic, Alice in Wonderland.  The production will open on August 10th, and run through August 20th at the popular Boca Raton venue.  Alice and her friends will then move to the Delray Beach Children's Garden for three special sunset performances on August 24th, 25th, and 26th.  (more...)

BULLET CATCHERS Gives Voice to Women in the Military

CLUTCH PRODUCTIONS, in association with JOSIAH GRIMM, is pleased to announce the world premiere production of Maggie Moore and Julia Sears' BULLET CATCHERS, with music directed by Yeujia Low, directed by Julia Sears. BULLET CATCHERS will play a limited engagement at Off-Broadway's Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square Park South). Performances begin Thursday, July 20 (7:30 p.m.) and continue through Saturday, August 5. Opening Night is Saturday, July 22 (7 p.m.). Tickets are $20 at www.bulletcatcherstheplay.com/tickets. A 'bullet catcher' is Army slang for an infantryman. They live and die on the frontlines and carry this nickname like a badge of honor. It's a sacrifice that few are willing to make. EgoPo Classic Theater Announces Cast of LYDIE BREEZE TRILOGY

EgoPo Classic Theater celebrates its 25th Anniversary with the 2017-18 John Guare Festival. As the centerpiece of the season, the company is presenting the world premiere of Guare's Lydie Breeze Trilogy. This three-part American epic can be experienced in three ways: as a three-part series spread over three months, a three-night marathon, or a one-day (nine-hour) marathon with built in meal breaks. The performances of these modern American classics begin January 31, 2018 with Part I, and will run through May 6, 2018.
