The legendary El Capitan Theatre becomes your destination this October for two Halloween season traditions: Disney's beloved Hocus Pocus October 6-15, followed by the 24th annual presentation of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas October 20-31, in 3D with spine-tingling interactive 4D sensory effects, including wind, snow, fog and much more. In addition, props and photo opportunities from these two classic Halloween movies will be on display before and after every screening.

The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's Scare Pair, a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost -- together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues). Both works, with the libretto and music by Mr. Getty, will be sung in English and have a running time of 60 minutes each.

The Marsh San Francisco announces Not a Genuine Black Man, the longest running solo show in San Francisco theater history by award-winning actor, playwright, and talk show host Brian Copeland, will extend at The Marsh due to popular demand.

As previously reported, Epic Theatre Company's production of 'James Franco and Me' written by Kevin Broccoli cancelled its New York production, originally slated to go up in August, after the venue at which the play was to be performed received a cease and desist letter from Franco's lawyers. The playwright, Broccoli, began working with his own lawyers to respond to the cease and desist. Their letter, which has been emailed to Franco's attorneys as of today, September 27, can be read in full below. Broccoli and his lawyers are waiting on a response from Franco's legal team.

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center and MEG Presents announced today that tickets for 70s Soul Jam featuring The Whispers, Delfonics and Chi-Lites will go on sale Friday, September 22 at 10 a.m. Three of R&B music's most beloved and consistently popular vocal groups, The Whispers, Delfonics and Chi-Lites, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) launches its 20th Anniversary Season: "Origins" with its 20th world premiere The Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, playing at the Factory Theater, 1623 W. Howard St., September 2 - October 14. Based on the 1940s comic strip by Russell Stamm, the new play is written by BWBTC Ensemble Member Barbara Lhota, directed by Ensemble Member Leigh Barrett and features violence design by Ensemble Member Libby Beyreis.
