Playwright/director Elia Schneider--born in Israel, raised in Venezuela and now an American citizen--is known for hauntingly visual productions that transcend language with strong imagery and a dreamlike fresco of movement and design. Her newest work, 'Citizens of the Gray or the Dark Thing that Sleeps Inside Me,' deals with the war of the sexes in the age of the #MeToo Movement. Hitherto, her theatrical productions have mostly emerged from ideas derived from Kafka. Now she is channeling Strindberg for a new work of ensemble creation with her Teatro Dramma. Theater for the New City will present the world premiere of the piece November 9 to 25.  It will be Schneider's Theater for the New City debut.

The legendary El Capitan Theatre celebrates the Spooktacular 25th Anniversary this October of its two Halloween favorites: Disney's beloved "Hocus Pocus" October 11-21, followed by the 25th annual presentation of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" October 22-31, shown in 3D with spine-tingling interactive 4D sensory effects, including lights, fog, scents, and more wind and snow than ever before! On first consideration, Brad Fraser's 1989 play Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love is a darkly comical look at a group of disaffected young Canadians hurtling toward their 30s with no real sense of purpose or identity guiding them on their way. An exciting cast and creative team has been announced for the hotly-anticipated, intimate revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic classic Aspects of Love, which opens at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester in July.

Dandelion Productions is proud to announce the return of Connecticut Free Shakespeare to the outdoor stages of Connecticut's summer theater programming.  This year, CFS stages a re-telling of William Shakespeare's The Tempest for four performances only from Thursday July 19 through Sunday July 22 at 6:30 PM on the grounds of the University of Bridgeport, on the patio of the Arnold Bernhard Arts & Humanities Center, 84 Iranistan Ave. On Friday evening, immediately following the performance there will be a special question and answer (Q&A) program with the cast and staff. Admission to all showings is free, but a donation of $10 per person would fund future programming and be greatly appreciated. Patrons are encouraged to come early and bring a picnic! Seating will open at 5:30pm for those who choose to arrive early.  Please bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics. Note: To respect our guests on blankets, our house management staff will ask patrons in lawn chairs to set up behind a blanket area in the front of the house. Incoming American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon announced today that Eugene Ionesco's RHINOCEROS-translated by Derek Prouse and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Frank Galati-will be the final production of A.C.T.'s 2018-19 season.

North Texas Performing Arts Presents HEATHERS, the musical, May 4-12th at Willow Bend Center of the Arts in Plano, Texas. Based on the classic 1989 film, the musical is about a misfit young girl, Veronica Sawyer, who rejects the evil regime of the most popular and prettiest girls 'The Heathers' at Westerberg High. Veronica's new scary boyfriend, J.D., takes matters a bit too far and puts the Heathers in their place - six feet under.
