The Cleveland Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall for the first time since 2012 with two concerts this winter. On Sunday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m., Music Director Franz Welser-Most leads the orchestra and soprano Barbara Hannigan in the New York premiere of Hans Abrahamsen's let me tell you. The work, recently awarded the 2016 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition, features texts from writer and critic Paul Griffiths's novella of the same name, in which the character of Ophelia delivers a first-person account of her life using only the words Shakespeare wrote for her in Hamlet. Also on the program is Shostakovich's monumental Symphony No. 4 in C Minor, Op. 43.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) continues its 2015/16 season with a double bill featuring Francis Poulenc's emotional and passionate 'La Voix Humaine' and Giacomo Puccini's delightful 'Gianni Schicchi' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205 E. Randolph St.) on Feb. 6 and 14. The operas will be directed by COT's Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by Ari Pelto.

The director and designers behind Rubicon Theatre Company's acclaimed environmental productions ofFiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha have reunited on the two-piano chamber version of the legendary Lerner and Loewe's classic My Fair Lady. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, the musical tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins, an arrogant and attractive phonetician who makes a wager that he can transform a 'deliciously low' Cockney flower-seller (Eliza Doolittle) into an elegant lady by teaching her to speak more beautifully. The magnificent score includes 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly,' and 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face.' For Rubicon's production, Director James O'Neil returns to the source material to explore the Shavian themes of class struggle, social reform and women's rights.

FringeArts presents the U.S. premiere of Toneelgroep Amsterdam's After the Rehearsal/Persona, a centerpiece of the 2015 Fringe Festival and the only U.S. engagement of this stunning work. Two Ingmar Bergman screenplays, After the Rehearsal and Persona, are reimagined for the stage by celebrated Dutch director Ivo van Hove and set designer Jan Versweyveld. This theatrical diptych, with each play delving into the messy lives of theater artists, features deeply emotional and physical performances to match the layered psychological drama of Bergman's texts.

True story: in 1953, iconic L.A. architects Richard Neutra and Rudolph Schindler, onetime friends and business partners who had been bitterly estranged for 23 years, found themselves, by a vagary of fate, occupying the same hospital room in Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA presents a site-specific production in which playwright/director Tom Lazarus imagines what might have transpired during that reunion. Ray Xifo and John Nielsen star as Neutra and Schindler, with Heather Robinson in the role of Nurse Rothstein. The world premiere of The Princes of Kings Road opens on Sept 12 for a four-week run at the architecturally significant Neutra Institute and Museum of Silverlake.

Colby Award for his book Alvin York: A New Biography of the Hero of the Argonne. Named for the late ambassador and former CIA director William E. Colby, the Colby Award recognizes a first work of fiction or non-fiction that has made a significant contribution to the public's understanding of intelligence operations, military history, or international affairs. SAN FRANCISCO, December 5, 2014 – Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony's live concert recording of Leonard Bernstein's complete score for the musical West Side Story is nominated for a Grammy® Award in the category of Best Musical Theater Album. The album features a stellar Broadway cast including Cheyenne Jackson and Alexandra Silber, and members of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. The performances were recorded live at Davies Symphony Hall in late June and early July 2013 after Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony became the first orchestra to receive permission from all four West Side Storyrights-holders to perform and record the musical score in its entirety in a concert setting.
