The Drama League has announced performers and appearances slated for the 2022 Fall gala, “Embrace The Season: A Drama League Celebration” coming up on Monday, October 17 at 6:00 PM at City Winery.

Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse has opened  the world premiere of Neith Boyce's THE SEA LADY, a 1935 play bound for Broadway that never reached its opening, in limited run from October 6 - 30, 2022, in person at the Playhouse: 220 E 4th Street. Alex Roe (Thunder Rock, Poor of New York, Virtual Playhouse) directs.

The American Dance Guild will return to live performance with their yearly ADG PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL, their first live production since the Covid pandemic. Return, Renew, Rejoice! will take place over four evenings, Dec 1 - Dec 4 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street, in New York City. The work of 34 contemporary choreographers will be shown.

On Friday, November 4, Main Street in Webster circa 1916 will come alive at Samuel Slater Experience with Night at the Museum: Silent Movies with Richard Hughes.  Pianist and historian Hughes will share the adventure, drama, romance, and comedy that characterized the silent movies of the early 1900s films in the Liberty Theater, along the recreation of Main Street that is one of the most popular exhibits at the museum.

Recorded direct from the band’s soundboard and restored and remastered, this recording captures the arc of the ABB’s sound as they were ramping up to the classic At Fillmore East album recorded just 8 weeks later (March 1971). You can hear Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe on this recording.

The Drama League (Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Director Bevin Ross) has opened the 2023-2024 applications for its acclaimed umbrella of service programs, collectively called The Directors Project. These programs, which for the last four decades have provided unparalleled industry-leading production opportunities, career development, and professional growth, give early and mid-career directors paid fellowships, residencies to develop new works, and assistantships at major theatrical institutions.  

Westport Country Playhouse will host “Black Excellence Night,” a free-of-charge, communal celebration of Black life and history, on Wednesday, October 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Playhouse's Lucille Lortel White Barn Center.

Navy Pier, Chicago's iconic cultural destination, will have American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters and audio description during Chicago Live! from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Moosie Drier directs the cast of Bill Chott, Richard Horvitz, Kelly Stables, the playwright himself and Carolyn.

KARAN CASEY, one of Ireland’s big singer-songwriters – and a leading advocate for gender balance in the Irish folk and traditional music scene – will make her first U.S. tour in three years from September 1-18, a slate of 13 performances that will highlight her recent work, including her album Hieroglyphs That Tell the Tale and unreleased material.

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced further recipients for their 2022 Awards. The Awards for both 2021 and 2022 recipients will be presented at Joe’s Pub on Monday, July 25, 2022.

This evening, at an event held at Battersea Arts Centre, The Royal Society of Literature (RSL), the charity that represents the voice of literature in the UK, announced 60 new appointments including the first induction of writers elected to Fellowship through the Bicentenary RSL Open Initiative.
