Rehearsals are in full swing for The 5th Avenue Theatre's production of Kiss Me, Kate, which begins performances next Friday, April 6.

The National Trust has announced that almost 1,000 events have been registered for the 2018 Australian Heritage Festival.  The nation-wide Festival is the largest and longest-running grassroots festival celebrating Australia's historic, natural, indigenous and multicultural heritage. Now in its 38th year, the Australian Heritage Festival invites Australians to engage with their culture and heritage through a dynamic program presented across all States and Territories from 18 April to 20 May, 2018. The Festival is supported by the Australian Government through the National Trust Partnerships Program.

As part of the Paul Taylor American Modern Dance annual residency at Lincoln Center Koch Theater, Taylor has introduced 'Dances of Isadora,' staged by Lori Belilove, founder and Artistic Director of the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation and Company, and danced by Sara Mearns, the estimable New York City Ballet ballerina.

Epic reunions and not-to-be-missed intimate conversations will take center stage during the 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, running April 18-29. Tribeca will celebrate the anniversaries of Schindler's List, Scarface, and In the Soup, bringing three classics back to the big screen.

In the summer of 2016 Samite Mulondo begin an artist residency at the University of Saint Joseph. Since then Samite has performed musical concerts, mentored students and taught in campus departments. His residency will culminate with Resilience on March 23, 2018, 7:30 p.m., a theatrical and musical telling of his journey as a Ugandan refugee who travels the world sharing the healing power of music. Bergen County Players (BCP) continues its 85th season with Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling and directed by Ellyn Essig. Steel Magnolias will run February 17th through March 10th with curtain at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 pm on Sundays. All performances will take place at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell. Despite my well-earned affection for the Tony-winning 1998 Roundabout Theatre Company production of the classic Kander and Ebb Broadway classic CABARET, I still found myself vigorously entertained by McCoy Rigby Entertainment's flashy and buoyant new 2018 regional production of this theatrical staple, under the solid direction of Larry Carpenter and featuring spectacular musical performances from its lead cast. This deliciously bawdy but at times sneakily ominous musical continues performances at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts through February 11, 2018.

Anyone arriving at the San Francisco Opera expecting that the new John Adams-Peter Sellars collaboration, GIRLS OF THE GOLDEN WEST, will sound like any of their previous projects--THE DEATH OF KLINGHOFFER, DR. Morris-Jumel is proud to announce a terrific and timely new exhibit of the famed New Yorker cartoonist, Charles Addams, for the Fall/Winter 2017 season. Charles Addams Family and Friends will explore family values, rearing of children, entertaining and family outings. Additionally, the exhibition looks at New York and presidential life and will feature memorabilia as well as other Addams ephemera. The opening reception is, appropriately, on Friday October 13th at 6PM at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, 65 Jumel Terrace, New York City. The exhibit will run until February 18th. Hampstead Theatre presents the world premiere of Nicholas Wright's The Slaves of Solitude directed by Jonathan Kent.

Main Street Theater opens its 42nd Season with Enemies by Maxim Gorky, adapted by David Hare.  Enemies tells the story of Russian society in 1905 when the country sat ready for revolution.  Directed by MST Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden, this collaboration with the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance features a cast of 24, 8 of whom are UH students.
