In Minnesota, the Hennepin Theatre Trust recently reported a more than $115 million impact to the local economy, directly tied to their Broadway touring season. We’ve also got a story about the way in which some regional theatres have been able to rebound this past season, and are looking to capitalize on that momentum.

Grumbling in the industry was this season would have fewer musicals. Shows were taking longer to receive their full capitalization. Many musicals were losing hundreds of thousands of dollars per week. Attendance was down. Buying habits had changed. In other words, it didn’t feel like a particularly hospitable time to launch a Broadway show.

Youth Fountain, the emo / pop-punk project from guitarist/vocalist Tyler Zanon, is thrilled to share its new single “Roses In My Backpack”, out now via Pure Noise Records. A vulnerable new track that was written during a particularly difficult time in Zanon’s life, “Roses In My Backpack” is a song about feeling like there’s no way out.

Jason Hawk Harris has shared his new single “Bring Out The Lillies,” the next offering from his highly-anticipated new album Thin Places. This week, Harris will be performing at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville, Tenn., including an official showcase on Friday, September 22 at Eastside Bowl.

The show also debuted the brand new soundtrack for the series featuring previously unreleased song, “The Queens” by Paola Iezzi who, together with Paolo Camilli, Chiara Francini and Drag Queen Priscilla make up the judging panel for this season. The song was written by Paola Iezzi and Johannes Willinder.

Youth Fountain will be on the road this fall with Story Of The Year, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Page Avenue. The tour kicks off on October 26th and continues into early 2024, with stops in Dallas, Anaheim, Las Vegas, Portland, Minneapolis, Detroit, Toronto, New York, Chicago, and more.

Diversionary Theatre announces the cast and creative team for its production of Dragon Mama by Sara Porkalob, directed by Andrew Russell.  Dragon Mama will run September 14 through October 8 on Diversionary Theatre’s mainstage at their home in University Heights.
