TFANA has extended the run of Alice Childress’s Wedding Band, directed by Awoye Timpo, to May 22. (The production, which began previews April 28—postponed from an original date of April 23 due to two COVID-19 cases—was formerly set to close May 15).

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announces its 2022–2023 Theater Season featuring the return of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed, self-produced Broadway Center Stage series. The series will include Stephanie J. Block starring in Sunset Boulevard.

The companion show to Melissa Errico's gorgeous album of movie music will recieve a return engagement at Feinstein's Supper Club, 54 Below.

As theater continues to recover from the pandemic interruption, First Folio Theatre has announced its 2022-2023 season. The final season begins with a classic farce: JEEVES INTERVENES by Margaret Raether based on the works of P.G. Wodehouse, which runs November 5 through December 4, 2022.

UCO's opera department offers a cautionary tale. The Consul tells the story of one family trying to escape a country they can no longer call home. Though it ran on Broadway in 1950, it brings to mind current images that are seen on the news every night. Parallels to refugees and the bureaucratic system of being a victim of foreign war are seen.

THE DJANGO, downtown Manhattan’s premier jazz club, is celebrating the next generation of jazz with a special concert series this month. During the month of May, The Django welcomes rising stars as part of its new Next Gen Series.

Overall, this show, that the actors have been waiting to perform since January, is a well put together production. From the set to the costumes to the casting, A Murder is Announced will delight fans of Christie’s mysteries. Vanguard University's department of Theatre Arts will present the comedy classic by Mary Chase, Harvey. The production is presented in the Lyceum Theater on the Vanguard University campus, beginning April 1st, 2022, and running two weekends through April 10th.

Port Jefferson’s Theatre Three indeed has a hit with their current offering The Marvelous Wonderettes. Running through March 26th, the adorable production is superbly directed by Long Island theatre vet Linda May. This show hasn’t been on Broadway, per se, but it did have two off-Broadway runs in 2008 and 2016 well as inspiring several spin-offs. There have been many local productions of this show and it’s easy to understand why: it is a fun, nostalgic show.

Sugar Ray by Laurence Holder will have its theatrical premiere January 6 to 23, 2022 at Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, presented by 24 Bond Arts Center in association with Faith Steps Productions and performed by AUDELCO-winner Reginald L. Wilson.  The theater's playing area will be transformed into a boxing ring for the production.
