The New Orleans Ballet Association kicks off its 2018-2019 dance season at the Mahalia Jackson Theater on September 22 at 8 p.m. with the awe-inspiring DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion. As top 10 finalists last summer on the NBC hit TV show, 'America's Got Talent,' DIAVOLO wowed millions of viewers by pushing the limits of dance as extreme sport and defying gravity with breathtaking, daredevil movement on a huge playground of oversized architectural structures. This September features many new titles coming to Amazon Prime. Prime Original series King Lear will become available on Prime Video on September 28th. You would never guess it, but Newsies was originally a flop when it came out as a Disney movie in 1992. It gained credibility and a cult following after being released to home video. The stage musical came several years later and opened on Broadway in 2012, where it was nominated for eight Tony Awards. Newsies ended up winning two, Best Choreography and Best Original Score. You will understand why when you hear the exhilarating numbers by Alan Menken, who also created the music for Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Sister Act.

Luna Stage recently announced its 2018-2019 Mainstage season, featuring four new plays: one world premiere and three regional premieres. The plays are set in locations around the world, each exploring the question of how we come together across cultural and social divides. Luna's season begins October 4 and runs through April 28, and the plays will be Pirira by J.
