In May 2017, the Vienna Philharmonic's annual Summer Night Concert was held for the first time directly in front of Vienna's Imperial Schonbrunn Palace. This 14th annual concert-conducted by Christoph Eschenbach and featuring soprano Renee Fleming-will be released on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital platforms by Sony Classical on Friday, August 11 and broadcast on PBS's Great Performances on Friday, August 18 at 9 p.m. (check local listings).

The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst announce further details of their new production of Debussy's Pelléas and Mélisande, including the complete three-part series of behind-the-scenes production videos.  The impressionistic French opera, with its luminous and hypnotic score, is being presented at Severance Hall May 2, 4, and 6, 2017.  The creative team for this brand-new, made-for-Cleveland production is being led by Director Yuval Sharon working with Set Designer Mimi Lien, Lighting and Projection Designer Jason Thompson, Choreographer Danielle Agami, and Costume Designer Ann Closs-Farley.

NY Philharmonic Presents Concerts in the Parks

The 2017 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will return for the 52nd season with four free outdoor concerts, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (June 13); the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan (June 14); Cunningham Park, Queens (June 15); and Prospect Park, Brooklyn (June 16). In addition, New York Philharmonic musicians will perform at the Free Indoor Concert at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden on June 18, 2017. Major corporate support for the 2017 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks and the Free Indoor Concert has been provided by MetLife Foundation, Citi, and Emirates Airline.
