Two Ukrainian opera companies were celebrated for their outstanding work in challenging circumstances at the International Opera Awards 2022 this evening [28 Nov]. The international opera world came together at Teatro Real in Madrid for the glittering ceremony celebrating the best of the past year.

Writer-director Siddharth Chauhan's debut feature film set in his home town Shimla, Amar Colony won the Special Jury prize at the prestigious 26th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The festival was held from 11- 27 November in Estonia.

Ivo van Hove will stage the English language première of Hanya Yanagihara's critically acclaimed prize-winning novel, A Little Life in the West End. Van Hove directs James Norton (Jude), Luke Thompson (Willem), Omari Douglas (JB), Zach Wyatt (Malcolm), Elliot Cowan (Brother Luke/Doctor Traylor/Caleb), Zubin Varla (Harold), Nathalie Armin (Ana), and Emilio Doorgasingh (Andy).

The strengths and flaws of the American jury system are laid bare – as are the prejudices and social attitudes of those standing in judgment – in Reginald Rose's classic Twelve Angry Men, which opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks on December 9 (8pm). Performances continue through December 24, with specially priced previews on December 7 and 8 (7:30pm). J. Barry Lewis directs.  

LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTREAL (PDM) today announced the winners of the 2021-2022 season during an awards ceremony held at Espace Marie Chouinard. Stichting Dansersfonds '79 has announced its annual dance awards. This year's Merit Award goes to the Czech dancer Jozef Varga, who ended his dancing career with Dutch National Ballet last summer after fifteen years (but who will be making one last appearance at the coming Dutch Ballet Gala given by the Dansersfonds, in Hans van Manen's iconic 'ballet for two' Trois gnossiennes).

Soprano Karoline Podolak of Toronto took home both First Prize and Audience Choice Award at the Canadian Opera Company's Centre Stage: Ensemble Studio Competition on November 3, 2022 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The evening marked the grand finale of a national search for Canada's top young opera singers, all of whom were vying for cash prizes and the chance to be invited for a coveted spot in the company's prestigious Ensemble Studio training program.

The 92nd Street Y will present Angela Hewitt, piano & Orpheus Chamber Orchestra play Bach, on November 17, 2022 at 7:30pm ET at the Kaufmann Concert Hall.

Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami opens it's sixth season in Miami with an exhilarating evening of dance at The Moss Center on November 12th.
