Last night, PEN America spotlighted diverse voices and bestowed $330,000 of transformative support to writers and translators at the 2020 PEN America Literary Awards, hosted by Late Night's Seth Meyers at The Town Hall, the biggest venue in the Awards program's 56-year history. The show demonstrated the evolution of the Awards in recent years from a modest auditorium event for winners and their families into a preeminent gathering of writers and publishing luminaries, stars of the stage and screen, and passionate book lovers-or, as Meyers referred to it, 'The Oscars for books.'

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is officially in previews on Broadway! Two-time Tony Award and three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf and Rupert Everett star on Broadway in Edward Albee's seminal drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, this production also stars Russell Tovey and 2019 Olivier Award winner Patsy Ferran.

Bard SummerScape's 17th edition celebrates one of the most important female figures in classical music history, with seven weeks of music, opera, theater, dance, film and the SummerScape Spiegeltent, centered around the 31st Bard Music Festival, 'Nadia Boulanger and Her World.'

As part of its current 2019-2020 Performing Arts Season, Japan Society presents a staged reading of Cooking Up, by Japanese playwright Shoko Matsumura, led by Brooklyn-based director Jordana De La Cruz, taking place Monday, March 30 at 7:30 PM at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street).  Cooking Up marks the 15th installment of the Society's annual Play Reading Series: Contemporary Japanese Plays in English Translation, introducing topical plays from emerging playwrights from Japan to artists and audiences in the U.S.  

Campion Decent's THE CAMPAIGN presents an incredibly insightful piece of verbatim theatre that shares the Tasmanian Gay Lesbian Rights Group's (TGLRG) fight to have homosexual acts decriminalized. 

A Soldier's Play officially opened on Broadway on January 21 for a limited engagement at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street).

On Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 5:30-7:30 pm, the community is invited to visit Sarasota Opera House for a wide variety of free activities and offerings. The San Diego Italian Film Festival (SDIFF) is collaborating with Film Geeks SD to present a year-long monthly series of Italian genre films that showcase the variety and range of Italian cinema, many of which have never been screened in San Diego before. 

Leading the vanguard of Boston's classical music scene, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) and Odyssey Opera present the world premiere of The Chronicle of Nine: The Tragedy of Lady Jane by the late American composer Arnold Rosner (1945-2013). A semi-staged, English-language production led by conductor Gil Rose,The Chronicle of Nine unites Odyssey Opera (one of the nation's most innovative opera companies), BMOP(the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music), and internationally renowned singers including soprano Megan Pachecano playing the lead role of Lady Jane Grey. This marks the third of six productions of Odyssey Opera'sseason-long exploration of operatic works inspired by the great English dynasty of the 16th century:the Tudors.

World renowed DJ and Producer Paco Osuna curates elrow'art's US debut in Miami December 6th, marking this a special highlight to this years' Art Basel edition. Today they announce the unique, ethereal and conscious expanding house DJ and artist Blond:ish plus intertnational party starter and club scene champion, Eats Everything as part of the musical line up for their 'Kaos Garden' themed event.  More talent will be announced soon.

Initially written in 1949, meaning that it was projecting 35 years into the future at that time, it is uncanny, that, 35 years later, it is being presented yet once again, and, terrifyingly, it is probably more relevant than ever before. With the brutal soul-searching, diary-exposing help of four Party Members of a?oeThe Ministry of Truth,a?? and a maiming stun gun, Winston is forced to confess his Thoughtcrimes before an unseen questioner, and the audience (surrounding the square stage in the middle on all four sides; it's almost as if they are secretly witnesses and jury) is up close and personal witnessing the torture and depredation being dealt to Mr. Smith.

Everyone's favorite Elf is coming to Stages Theatre Company, in the holiday classic Elf the Musical, Jr.! Join us this winter as we follow Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity and win over his new family. Based on the beloved film from New Line Cinema, this hilarious musical is filled with memorable songs, lots of laughs and holiday cheer for the whole family to enjoy.

NPR's hit public radio series Selected Shorts is coming to Kean Stage's Enlow Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 16 with an evening of festive stories filled with love, laughter and nostalgia. The stories will be read by actors Michael Cerveris, Dana Ivey and Richard Masur.

The International Culinary Center (ICC) is honored to announce the return of Korean Temple Food Guru and Cookbook Author, Wookwan, following her first successful cooking class in 2018 at the New York City culinary school. Wookwan will travel from Korea to introduce the techniques of temple cuisine to a global audience of ICC's current Professional Culinary and Pastry Arts students, bringing with her the first-of-its kind English-language cookbook on temple food, Wookwan's Korean Temple Food: The Road to the Taste of Enlightenment.

King's Head Theatre and Making Productions are pleased to announce casting for Robert Chesley's play Jerker, which returns to London for the first time in 29 years. Tibu Fortes will play Bert and Tom Joyner will play J R, directed by Ben Anderson. Jerker runs at the Kings Head Theatre between 30 October and 23 November 2019 (press night Friday 1 November).

Sarasota Opera will present the Academy Award winning film a?oeBeetlejuicea?? as a late-season addition to their a?oeClassic Movies at the Opera Housea?? series. a?oeBeetlejuicea?? will start at 7:30 pm on Friday, October 4, 2019.

The Actors' Gang Theater, home to over 38 years of provocative stories, opens its 2019-20 season with a new production of 1984, written by George Orwell, adapted by Michael Gene Sullivan, and directed by The Actors' Gang Artistic Director Tim Robbins. The play will begin previews Thursday, October 10th and run through Saturday, December 7th, with an official press opening on Saturday, October 19th.

Rupert Everett has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? alongside two-time Tony Award and three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf. Everett will succeed the previously announced Eddie Izzard, who departs the production due to scheduling difficulties.
