Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College announces its 59th season of diverse, family friendly theater and musical theater performances, including the Off-Broadway holiday hit My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm Home for the Holidays, the acclaimed Golden Dragon Acrobats performing their theatrical spectacle Cirque Ziva, and five theater performances for children as part of Brooklyn Center's Target Storybook Series.

On the Trail of Giants by Don Hones follows Joey, a young boy in a quiet village, as he joins his dog, Peppy the Puppy, on a series of adventures with a bear, monkeys, giants and a dragon. Joey also becomes friends with children of the Peregrine, a wandering people skilled in music and healing. When the Peregrine's homes are attacked and burned, Joey chooses to aid his friends on a desperate journey to free their families and tear down the wall separating two peoples.

MUSE/IQUE, known for its counter-conventional performances that feel more like parties than formal concerts, continues 'Summer of Sound' 2013 with 'Moving Pictures' featuring groundbreaking cellist Matt Haimovitz and Emmy Award-winning actress Wendie Malick ('Hot in Cleveland') in a fresh take on motion picture scores by Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, Vangelis, Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Erich Korngold as well as the world premiere of Sleepwalking, a concerto for cello and chamber orchestra with images by Peter Golub, prolific composer and director of Sundance's Film Music Program, on Saturday, July 27, 2013, 7:30 pm, outdoors at Caltech's Beckman Mall in Pasadena.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts Announces 2013-14 Family Performances

The centerpiece of Brooklyn Center's 2013-2014 family programming will be theTarget Storybook Series of performances based on classic and contemporary children's literature, with titles including The Little Engine That Could Earns Her Whistle; Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day; A Brown Bear, a Moon, and a Caterpillar: Treasured Stories by Eric Carle; andThe Wizard of Oz. The series aims to encourage the development of strong reading skills at home in children ages four to eight. Online resources such as literacy-based activity sheets and Parents' Guides will give parents the opportunity to engage their children prior to attending the performances, and then again after seeing each show.

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to announce its full 2013/14 Season, beginning this fall with the Chicago premiere of Bill Cain's spellbinding drama 9 CIRCLES directed by Marti Lyons. This winter, Sideshow begins its residency at Victory Gardens Theater with the Chicago premiere of Roland Schimmelpfennig's THE GOLDEN DRAGON, translated by David Tushingham and directed by Artistic Director Jonathan L. Green and Marti Lyons. Sideshow's critically acclaimed 2012 production of Schimmelpfennig's Idomeneus earned the company a Jeff Award for Best Ensemble. Bringing artists from all over the world, and from most every genre, the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College - formerly known as Three Stages at Folsom Lake College - will offer literally hundreds of performances in 2013-14. Beginning in late July, 2013 and extending into spring 2014, the new season includes world-class performers like Kenny Loggins, Seinfeld's Jason Alexander, and Savion Glover; Broadway productions such as Peter and the Starcatcher, The Addams Family and Bring It On: The Musical (all of which are appearing in the capital region for the first time ever); and an unprecedented season of dance in Folsom which kicks off with Alonzo King LINES Ballet and also features Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Bellydance Superstars, Ballroom with a Twist, and return visits of the popular Moscow Festival Ballet's Swan Lake and Diavolo Dance Theatre; and many more, all on the stages at the Harris Center.

Film Society of Lincoln Center Announces 2013 New York Asian Film Festival Lineup

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Subway Cinema in association with Japan Society announce the full schedule today for the 2013 New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) which will screen June 28 - July 15. The popular film festival will showcase over 60 feature films with filmmakers and celebrity guests travelling from Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan to attend the festival. Also announced were special focuses for this year's edition of NYAFF including a celebration of the career of Korean star Ryoo Seung-Beom and new works from the Philippines (joining the previously announced focuses on Hong Kong cinema, Taiwan pulp and a salute to Well Go USA).
