Best-selling recording artist, X-Factor winner and West End star Matt Cardle is to join the cast of Strictly Ballroom The Musical. Based on Baz Luhrmann's acclaimed film and now transformed into a spectacular and joyous West End musical, Matt will play the role of band leader Wally Strand, from Tuesday 31st July at the Piccadilly Theatre. He takes over the role from Will Young.

Sundance Institute and Skywalker Sound today announced the composers and directors selected for the Sundance Institute Film Music and Sound Design Lab, which returns to the legendary Skywalker Sound Facilities for the sixth year. More than half of the composers selected for this year's Lab are female. 

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts opens its inaugural summer 2018 season, which will fill venues surrounding the organization's highly anticipated new facility in Catskill, New York, with Scat!,a dance-driven musical from Urban Bush Women set in Hudson, NY's Club Helsinki (June 29-July 1). Park City Institute kicks off the Independence Day holiday, with its traditional July 3rd concert, presenting GRAMMY winning band, Los Lonely Boys, at the Quinn's Junction Sports Complex Fields. “Los Lonely Boys' brand of blues-infused Texican rock, is just right for celebrating our first first pop-up concert of the 2018 St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series,” said Teri Orr, Park City Institute Executive Director. “Our community has a lot to celebrate, and this band knows how to throw a party.”

Odwa Bongo recently went through a rough time in his life where he suffered from anxiety which almost led him towards depression. He spent two weeks in his room, feeling miserable and helpless. Luckily for him, music spoke to him. He started writing and listening to music that encouraged him. After he was feeling better he began to familiarise himself with people again. It was at this point that Odwa realised that he was not alone and that other people in his circle were also going through difficult situations. He then decided that in his final recital, for his African Music Diploma in Performance, he wants to heal himself and those around him.

Native Voices at the Autry, America's leading Native American theatre company, presents its 24th Annual Festival of New Plays at the Autry Museum of the American West and La Jolla Playhouse. Park City Institute Executive Director Teri Orr, announced the approval of two outdoor venues for the 2018 St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series, by Park City City Council. All performances will be held at Quinn's Junction Sports Complex Fields, with the exception of Grace Potter, slated to perform her July 13 show at City Park. Gates will open at 4:30 P.M., and the concerts will begin at 6:00 P.M.

Karamu House, the oldest multicultural performing arts center in the country, closes it's 102nd consecutive season with the Tony Award-winning musical Passing Strange. Karamu House President and CEO, Tony F. Sias notes, 'this is a piece that is important and relevant, and speaks to and engages our millennial and 'genZ' generations.' With book and lyrics written by Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Stew, and music composed by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the production opened on May 10 and will run through June 3, 2018 in Karamu's Arena Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jersey Boys will open at Sydney's Capitol Theatre on 6 September 2018 for a strictly limited season. This internationally acclaimed hit musical tells the true-life story of four guys from the wrong side of the tracks, the rise to stardom of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, one of the most successful bands in pop music history. The band sold more than 175 million records and were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame for their worldwide hits, including Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Walk Like a Man, Bye Bye Baby, Sherry and Big Girls Don't Cry, which all feature in the musical.

In response to overwhelming demand and near universal critical acclaim, Symphonie Fantastique - the singular creation by designer, director, master puppeteer, and MacArthur "genius" Basil Twist - extends its 20th anniversary engagement to July 15. Set to Hector Berlioz's revolutionary 1830 score, Symphonie Fantastique, for the first time in New York, features live piano accompaniment by Christopher O'Riley. Hailed as a creative masterpiece when it debuted in 1998, the production, which opened on April 4, is a presentation from HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program and a centerpiece of HERE's 25th anniversary season.
