Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Paul Meecham today announced the Utah Symphony's 2019-20 season, with highlights including multimedia concert experiences featuring the twelve movements of Messiaen's Des canyons aux toiles (From the canyons to the stars), the release of Berlioz and Prokofiev recordings on the Hyperion Records and Reference Recordings respectively, and a celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020. Additional highlights include the return of American composer Andrew Norman to present three of his orchestral works and work with young Utah musicians in his second year as Composer-in-Association; a gala concert with violinist Joshua Bell celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Utah Symphony's first-ever performance, which took place on May 8, 1940; and a tribute to Hispanic Heritage that includes music by Latin-American composers conducted by guest artist Carlos Miguel Prieto. The University of Washington has announced the complete roster of artists who have been selected as Creative Research Fellows as part of its first three-year Creative Fellowships Initiative. Funded by a $750,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the interdisciplinary initiative will advance the field of performing arts by supporting artists in the development of new works and by integrating the performing arts disciplines into a broader context academically, artistically, and socially.

The San Francisco International Arts Festival (SFIAF) is pleased to reveal the full schedule of performances for the 2019 Festival that will run from May 23 - June 2 and have as a central theme The Path to Democracy. As the dark clouds of nationalism and fascism re-assert themselves on the global stage, SFIAF looks at some of the struggles for democracy past and present and how they manifest themselves in different cultures. Hell in a Handbag Productions is pleased to announce its 2019 Season, launching this winter with the show that started it all: POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical, an unauthorized musical parody of the classic granddaddy of all disaster films, 1972's The Poseidon Adventure. The much-anticipated revival of Handbag's very first show features a book, music and lyrics by Artistic Director David Cerda* with Scott Lamberty, direction by Derek Van Barham, music direction by Andrew Milliken, and choreography by Breon Arzell. The cast includes ensemble members Sydney Genco*, Caitlin Jackson*, Elizabeth Lesinski*, David Lipschutz*, Stevie Love* and a boatload of others. POSEIDON will play at a venue befitting of an ocean liner: The Edge Theater, 5451 N. Broadway in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

Winner of a 2017 Grammy Award for his debut CD, "his voice…his passion for music… will take you to the heavens" (Darlene Ahuna). Kalani Pe'a's path to stardom was anything but direct: he was diagnosed with a speech impediment at age four, and his mother introduced him to singing to help him with words. He's come a long way: in 2017, following his first Na Hoku Award, he was honored by the Hawai'i State House of Representatives as a "torchbearer [recognized] for his accomplishments and continued work on behalf of Native Hawaiians." The Harris Center welcomes Kalana Pe'a in his Folsom debut.

Following last year's momentous 50th anniversary celebrations, The Isle of Wight Festival today announces the first artists for the 2019 event, which kicks off the British festival season on  13th - 16th June.

Public booking for Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Mary Poppins will open at 10am GMT on 28 January 2019. The musical, based on the stories of P. L. Travers and the original film, returns to its original West End home at the Prince Edward Theatre after fifteen years. Mary Poppins will begin previews on 23 October 2019 with opening night on 13 November and initially go on sale until 29 March 2020.

Actor Nixon Cesar has joined the cast of the world premiere production of Paul Calderon's play, Master of The Crossroads which will open at The Bridge Theater next month for a limited run.

With performances as wide-ranging as Margaret McAuliffe's acclaimed one-woman play The Humours of Bandon, Declan O'Rourke's epic song cycle Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine, and Paul Muldoon's performance adaptation of a 1773 Irish poem, IAC provides an intimate home for artists' boldest visions. As construction on IAC's landmark permanent new home in Hell's Kitchen takes place just beyond the organization's original location, IAC's vast ambition and accomplishment will be on full display, outside and in, throughout Spring 2019.

Three-time Grammy Award-winning multiplatinum band MAROON 5 will take center stage at the PEPSI SUPER BOWL LIII HALFTIME SHOW on CBS at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, they confirmed today. Maroon 5 will feature a slate of guest artists including Grammy-nominated rapper TRAVIS SCOTT and Atlanta native BIG BOI bringing together the broadest range of musical genres ever seen on the Super Bowl stage.

Written and recorded in 2016 and 2017, Maya found herself drawing from a new well, and reckoning with a body of work that patiently asked to live under her own name -- and she also found herself facing the difficult growth required of her to fully live her way into these particular songs. Lindsay Lou, Courtney Hartman, and Oliver Wood, to name a few, were eager to lend a hand and a voice to the project. To pre-order the album and hear the first two tracks of Adaptations, click here.
