Art Village Gallery continues to be the gallery of choice for those seeking international artwork and culture. Based in the South Main Arts District, the gallery is bringing the beauty and magic of Cuba, "the Pearl of the Antilles," to the Mid-South. Featuring fifteen medium to large-scale mixed media and acrylic works on canvas, Recuerdos De Cuba / Memories of Cuba, is the visionary work of native Cuban artist Eduin Fraga. This solo exhibition features a powerful critique of the political and systemic struggles in Cuba, from failing infrastructure to socio-economic restrictions where citizens are caught between local and global forces. Fraga's signature collage works express the complex, nuanced triumphs and challenges of daily life in Cuba. This Havana-born artist is celebrated for his generous eye and layered storytelling in a variety of mediums. In his works, taxi drivers lounge on carefully maintained classic cars, families wait in long line for buses and gather outside bodegas, men play dominoes piercing the air with their laughter, and musicians and other artists collaborate, clasping hands. Born in 1974, this is Eduin Fraga's first solo exhibition at the gallery and his first visit to Memphis.

Producers Tommy Mottola, the Dodgers, Tribeca Productions and Evamere Entertainment are pleased to announce a Rochester engagement of A BRONX TALE at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre. Rochester will be the official launch city of the North American Tour of A BRONX TALE with a limited one-week run at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre October 14-21, 2018 as part of the 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season presented by RBTL and Albert Nocciolino. A BRONX TALE, the new musical features a book by Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Alan Menken, and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Oscar and Tony Award nominee Glenn Slater, directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.

ABC, PEOPLE and Four M Studios will present “The Story of the Royals,” a two-night, four-hour prime-time television event documenting the fascinating lives of the British royal family. Featuring an extraordinary panel of experts and voices, “The Story of the Royals – Part One” airs WEDNESDAY, AUG. 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), and “The Story of the Royals – Part Two” airs THURSDAY, AUG. 23 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. 

In April 2018, the New World Symphony joined The Sphinx Organization and the League of American Orchestras in announcing their new partnership, the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS), which is a field-wide initiative with the long-term goal of increasing diversity in American orchestras. Supported by a four-year, $1.8 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alliance offers a holistic and personalized array of support to Black and Latinx musicians to develop their audition skills, increase their participation in auditions, and ultimately, increase their representation in orchestras.

Each summer, the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) presents its annual Sacred Masterwork concert and this year is no exception. Rich in spiritual trills and sacred thrills, Music of the Spirit, the 2018 free concert features GWYNETH WALKER's Songs of Faith - which was commissioned by OGCMA and hasn't been performed here since its 2013 debut - and JOHN RUTTER's splendid Gloria. Jason C. Tramm will conduct The Great Auditorium Choir and guest soloists Monica Ziglar, Katherine Pracht, Ronald Naldi and Justin Beck, accompanied by the MidAtlantic Brass Ensemble and organist Gordon Turk. The Great Auditorium is located at 54 Pilgrim Pathway in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, and is handicapped-accessible.

Award-winning Pilobolus returns to the Ted Shawn Theatre with Come To Your Senses, a program about accessing all five senses, June 27-July 1. The "mind-blowing troupe of wildly creative and physically daring dancers" (NY Newsday) guides audiences through a multi-sensory experience alongside repertory classics and new work, including the first all-women trio in the company's history. The Washington Post praises, "Pilobolus embodies a large part of what the best in contemporary dance is all about: discovery."

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 44th Season with the West Coast Premiere of Everybody, a sparkling new riff on the 15th-century morality play The Summoning of Everyman by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, whom the New York Times calls "one of this country's most original and illuminating writers.' A finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, Everybody is Cal Shakes' second official offering under the New Classics Initiative (NCI), exploring what it means to be a classical theater in the 21st century, and to allow living writers to expand our classical canon. Directed by Nataki Garrett making her Cal Shakes debut, Everybody plays July 18 - August 5 at the Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda. Low-priced previews take place July 18-20; Opening Night is July 21. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. Randolph) for a limited engagement March 12-24, 2019. A BRONX TALE will be part of Broadway In Chicago's upcoming season. Subscriptions will go on sale in the fall of 2018.

Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington announces its 2018/19 Season, presenting 24 visionary artists and ensembles that are pushing artistic boundaries, blending genres and redefining the meaning of creative mastery. The lineup includes international artists and ensembles from thirteen countries and cultures, including India, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Italy, France, Mexico, South Korea, Ukraine, Canada, Taiwan, Colombia, Spain and the USA.

People's Light proudly presents an inventive, intimate version of one of Shakespeare's most timeless plays. In Romeo & Juliet: A Requiem, the parents, Friar, and Nurse recreate the passion and recklessness of their star-crossed children to face their culpability and seek redemption.

Edward Gardner will make his New York Philharmonic debut conducting Debussy's Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, featuring The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leif Ove Andsnes in his final appearances with the Orchestra in that role. The program will also include Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra and Sibelius's Pohjola's Daughter. The performances will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 p.m.; they will perform the same program at Long Island University's Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m.

Penumbra Theatre embarks on an exciting new season under Artistic Director Sarah Bellamy. Productions announce “The Story of The Royals,” a four-hour primetime television event featuring the captivating lives of the British royal family. The event, which will air on ABC over two nights in August 2018, will showcase the key figures who represent four generations of the crown:  Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George.

Olathe Civic Theatre Association (OCTA) begins 2018 with the award-winning musical Violet, an inspiring story of a girl with a disfiguring scar who sets out on a journey to seek healing and finds her true beauty along the way. With book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, music by Jeanine Tesori, and a story based on 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, this production is helmed by local theatre veterans Julie Ewing (director) and Kevin Bogan (music director). Violet runs three weekends February 9-25, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.

Building on the Blaine County School District's mission of inspiring, engaging, educating and empowering every student, Company of Fools announces the 21st year of Stages of Wonder-an in-school dramatic arts program that has served as the theatre curriculum in local elementary schools since 1997.

An evening of song and swing awaits local music lovers as Philadelphia Theatre Company presents "The Summer Club: A Big Band Valentine's Day." Cupid shoots his arrow down music's memory lane this February 14th as audiences are transported to an era when clubs were hot, everyone dressed up and martinis came straight up. Take the Lead Dance Project will have everyone swinging in the aisles with free dance lessons before the show. Champagne cocktails will be pouring at the bar and Asher's Chocolates will provide a sweet treat to remember the night. Sleeping Beauty (Prince Street Players Version) is yet another brilliant offering from Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy, the creative forces behind Prince Street Players, one of the pinnacles of Theatre for Young Audience companies. Infuriated not to have received an invitation to the Royal Christening, the evil fairy, Trollarina, exacts her revenge on the Royal Family and her sister fairies by casting a spell on Princess Melisande. Sixteen years later, the Princess is sent into a decade-long sleep after pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. Little does Trollarina realize that more than one spell is about to be broken, thanks to the kiss of an amnestic, enchanted Faun. This is theatre for young audiences at its best. Great fun for the whole family!
